Ace Combat Infinity

In an alternate-reality 1994, a fictional asteroid named Polyphemus collides with the 5254 Ulysses, a moon of Jupiter. The collision resulted in a mass of 10,000 meteors that were expected to impact Earth in five years. The world's major powers decided to construct networks of anti-air railguns codenamed "Stonehenge", which would attempt to destroy the asteroids before they made impact with the planet. The meteor storm struck Earth in July of 1999; Stonehenge, while preventing the extinction of the human race, did not completely protect the planet. Up to 20% of the Earth's surface was destroyed in the "Ulysses Disaster".
