Expectations

In this contemporary-set companion piece to Dickens' classic GREAT EXPECTATIONS, the lovable English orphan Pip has grown up, only to find that life in his 30's is, well, not what he expected. When he receives a mysterious invitation for a weekend retreat from his childhood benefactor Miss Havisham, he thinks his luck is about to change. Only, Miss Havisham never actually shows up. Instead, Pip is reunited with his first love, the beautiful but emotionally cold Estella, and his childhood ally Herbert Pocket. He also meets a group of new characters, whom have all been invited here to play Havisham's succession game and solve a riddle that could unlock the inheritance of her entire fortune. The congregation of this makeshift family, social climbers one and all, takes an unexpected twist when one of the guests ends up dead and everyone present becomes a suspect. Now, as time is running out to solve the riddle and find the whereabouts of Miss Havisham, Pip must decide just what he really values in life and how far he is willing to go to uncover the truth.
