Dave is a working-class father from upstate New York whose TV-addicted daughter is dating a talentless teenage rapper. Incensed by a series of perceived injustices being committed by his local government, Dave records a series of caustic rants against City Hall that spread across the internet like wildfire. Meanwhile, a horde of benevolent Brooklyn hipsters descend upon Dave's quiet neighborhood to help him take a stand against the tyrannical powers that be.
